Here are some of my favorite Valentine’s Day cupcake recipes:
Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting – These red velvet cupcakes are made with cocoa powder, plus a secret ingredient that makes them extra special! A cream cheese frosting tops off this classic dessert.
Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting – These rich chocolate cupcakes are topped with a creamy peanut butter frosting that will make all chocolate lovers happy! This recipe uses natural peanut butter without added sugar so it’s healthier than other versions.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes – These cookie dough cupcakes are perfect for any occasion: Birthdays, holidays, or just because! The soft and fluffy vanilla cake is topped with a rich chocolate chip cookie dough filling and then dolloped with more cookie dough frosting on top. Yum!
Mint Chocolate Chip Cupcakes – These mint chocolate chip cupcakes have an amazingly smooth mint buttercream frosting that tastes just like a York peppermint patty! They’re perfect for St. Patrick’s Day or any time you want something green in your mouth!
For a special touch, bake the cupcakes in mini mason jars. Insert a wooden skewer into the center of each cupcake to fit into the hole of the lid.
This recipe makes 24 mini cupcakes or 12 standard-size ones. You can use either size or divide the recipe in half if you want to make fewer cupcakes.
Use your favorite frosting for these Valentine’s Day treats, but we recommend using buttercream for its ease of spreading and for its natural sweetness. If you don’t have time to make homemade frosting, opt for store-bought varieties that have some natural ingredients like cream cheese and butter in them.
This is a very easy cake to make. All you need is a cupcake pan and you can make it in advance and freeze them. Just thaw them out before serving!
