The packing list below is broken up into categories: clothing, toiletries, electronics and other essentials. It includes each item that I personally bring on every trip—whether it’s a weekend jaunt or an extended backpacking adventure.

Tops and bottoms

Women’s Travel Packing Checklist
I’m always looking for new ways to make packing easier. So, when I came across this article on packing light, I was intrigued. It’s called the “10-Item Travel Packing List” and it’s pretty genius.
So, what’s the strategy? Basically, you only bring 10 items with you when you travel. That may seem like a lot, but I promise it’s doable!
Here are my top picks for the perfect travel checklist:
- A pair of jeans or leggings (or both) – Jeans are a staple in every woman’s closet and can be dressed up or down depending on where you’re going and what you’re doing. Leggings are also a great option because they’re comfortable and easy to wear for any occasion!
- A pair of shorts – Shorts are another must-have item for any trip because they’re so versatile — from hiking to shopping to lounging by the pool. They come in all different styles and lengths so whether you’re looking for short shorts or capri pants, there’s something out there for everyone!
- A button-down shirt – Button-down shirts have become so popular in recent years

- A lightweight bag that can fit in the overhead bin. I like this one because it has a removable day bag, which is great for sightseeing, but can also be left behind when you’re just carrying your essentials.
- A small crossbody bag that fits under the seat in front of you on the plane and holds your wallet, passport and phone (or whatever else you need). I always have my phone on me for taking photos, so I want it in my hand at all times. I also like this one because it’s cute, but not too flashy or expensive looking (you don’t want pickpockets or robbers to target you).
- Comfortable shoes that are easy to pack (and won’t get dirty). These are my go-to shoes for traveling because they’re lightweight and sturdy enough for long days walking in cities full of cobblestone streets and uneven sidewalks (plus they’re very comfortable!). If you can find ones with a zipper instead of laces that make them easier to put on/take off quickly when going through security at airports.
- A pair of jeans or leggings — either will work if it’s cold where you’re going (jeans are more
Women’s Travel Packing Checklist
This is a comprehensive list of everything you will need for your trip. If you have a question about what to pack, it’s probably on this list!
I have traveled all around the world and find that if I pack too much, I don’t use everything. This list is based on my experience and the fact that I like to be comfortable. The idea of traveling light is great but it doesn’t mean you can’t bring things that make you feel good – like makeup or nice clothes!
I also travel with kids so I try to keep their needs in mind when packing. It’s important to remember that kids grow fast so don’t overpack anything too small!
When you’re ready to head out on your next adventure, you want to make sure you’ve got everything you need. That’s why we’ve put together this women’s travel packing checklist. It’ll help you stay organized, so there’s no last-minute scrambling when it comes time to go.
Whether you’re taking a weekend getaway or planning a longer trip, here are some of the items we think are essential for every trip, plus some extras that will make life easier while you’re away:
Passport & ID: You’ll need these for any international travel. Make sure they’re up-to-date and have enough pages for all stamps and visas.
It’s not easy to pack for a trip, especially when you’re trying to fit everything into one bag. But if you have a well-organized travel packing list, you’ll be able to pack more stuff without sacrificing comfort or space. Here’s what I think every woman should bring on her next trip.
Clothes
- Shoes
- Outfits: 2 summer, 2 winter (1 dressy)
- Underwear and socks (lots!)
- Bathing suit and cover-up for the beach/pool
- Jeans and pants for travel days (or long flights)
- Pants for evenings out (even if it’s hot)
- 3-4 casual shirts/tops/dresses/skirts (depending on climate)
- 1 dressy outfit for dinners out or nights out in town
Traveling is exciting, but it can also be stressful. Before you start packing, take a moment to consider the essentials — including what to bring and what to leave at home.
Here are some items to include in your travel checklist:
Documents: Passports, visas, vaccination records and other important documents should always be carried on your person or safely tucked away in a luggage compartment. If you will be traveling internationally, make sure you have a copy of your passport photo page, so you can show it to airport officials if required.
Clothing: You can never have too many clothes on hand for travel days! Pack layers that can be easily added or removed depending on the weather conditions. It’s always better safe than sorry when it comes to packing clothing items like socks and underwear — don’t forget your swimsuit either! Keep in mind that most airlines have strict carry-on restrictions when it comes to clothing items like jackets and sweaters; make sure they fit into the overhead bins before adding them to your luggage!
Personal hygiene: Make sure you pack enough toiletries for your trip — don’t forget about things like mouthwash, toothpaste and deodorant! A small sewing kit is also useful for

You’ve got your passport, your money, your phone and your plane tickets. Now what?
It’s time to pack.
But before you shove that suitcase full of clothes and toiletries, make sure you have everything else you’ll need on your trip. From electronics to accessories, here is a list of the most essential items for any woman traveling abroad:
Passport: This is kind of a no-brainer, but make sure you have it with you at all times while traveling abroad. Also make sure it has plenty of pages left to stamp visas or entry stamps into. If it doesn’t, get one before you leave so you don’t have to worry about it later!
Money: Make sure you have enough cash in different currencies to cover any emergencies that might arise — like if your ATM card gets stolen or lost! You can also exchange money at the airport or bank before heading out on your trip, so check beforehand with your bank if they offer this service and how much commission they charge for exchanging money overseas. You should also check with them about fees for using ATMs abroad (some banks charge $5 per transaction).
