I have personally thrown a lot of clothes already but I always think of the criteria when I do.

Does it have any tears?

Is it broken?

filthy or smelly?

I learned the hard way that clothes can bring germs or bacteria that could live in our sheets, garments, or shirts, and t-shirts.

That bad smell on the clothes? It is GERMS! or BACTERIA!

How do you decide if you should get rid of clothes

I decide or come to a conclusion with the simple process I always do.

First, your clothes can be home clothes, then if I felt like it is kind of old and more tattered or damaged, I rummage through my DIY drawer supplies or craft supplies then I cut them into my favorites which are crop tops. Or by then I wear them to sleep if I can. Without any waste directly, we use them at home for wiping or rugs for cleaning.

How do you drastically declutter

I just throw my hands up in the air and I declare a truce with my inner self!

Let us be ruthless and really start to see some progress.

I know that it is hard I have dealt with so much already in my life.

Decluttering is one thing I can control and I am going to use that power of mine to better myself.

  1. The first thing I do is change my mindset because that is the very hard one and that is to pre-plan or starting to jot down to do lists.
  2. Second, what will come out of this? Are you doing this for nothing? or no reason at all, if you do not have any motivation whatsoever, you will not get things done.
  3. The third step is to start doing, you always going to be fighting procrastination, DONT. As I said have a truce and start decluttering per area. One at a time to not be overwhelmed and be paralyzed and freeze altogether.

Decluttering clothes are never easy but the benefits are so much more important than anything else.

  • Imagine clothes are being a big part of our house, especially our bedrooms.
  • Clothes can either get dust and dirt from the air from pollution or antigens at home.
  • It will definitely and greatly affect your breathing.
  • I know things are a bit super hectic and you cannot sort through ALL of your clothes.
  • And I know you spent money on them is one of the reasons that clothes are hard to tackle.
  • Always think that having less stuff can benefit your well being and mindset.

Choose clothes that will serve you a purpose

I know you can do it and after it is all done you will not ask yourself again how to declutter clothes anymore.

How do you declutter too many clothes

I always use a trash bag or a black bag and sort my clothes directly and fold them from their hangers with asking myself, If I can still wear them or is it brand new still?

  • Are you a business minded person? Sell your stuff on the Facebook marketplace or depop online store or eBay.
  • Ask anyone in your neighborhood.
  • Donating to family members if they say they are looking for specific clothes to wear for a job interview or a gala event for special formal gatherings.
  • Utilize the family group chat once in a while to say hi and hello too.
  • Throwing clothes that are old or bitten by a rat and making them into a cleaning rag for table surfaces or lamps.
  • Before I use to buy disposables for cleaning but it is more friendly for mother Earth and to nature that we do part of our share as such items goes to big landfills of trash.

Decluttering your wardrobe

The wardrobe can be separated into 4 ways. Create a capsule wardrobe for 4 seasons of the year summer, winter, fall, and spring.

To store my clothes for the summer and had my swimsuits inside and a floppy hat and stash it inside my closet.

Special occasions like Christmas and Halloween costumes can be in a small bin or wooden boxes.

How to be ruthless

Okay be ruthless with decluttering, It is going to hurt in the beginning when seeing things being departed from you.

It will hurt more if you will become a hoarder and one day you cannot absolutely control yourself anymore.

Having lots of unnecessary stuff can affect family relationships and worst, your mental health too.

Think of how decluttering can make a huge difference for you and your family’s overall well being.

Less cleaning time and more family movie time with husband and kids.

How decluttering changed my life

I used to have my relatives or aunts and uncles buy me stuff that is clothes because they know I love fashion, (they still do, but less now).

We love our family but getting presents is good and nice.

I like presents that are more of experiences whenever I do not have any new things physically I like at the moment.

Changing your perspective in a small way can be a nice thing one way or another.

I think a lot better now and I worry less now.

As funny as it may seem but I can finally see my bedroom floors and walls now unlike before.

How to decide what clothes to keep

I decided to keep clothes that fit me well and I look good in them.

I have to be honest and I admit it as a fashionista by heart but with a dash of a minimalist.

Knowing myself and my lifestyle are important.

Do I always go to the gym, then I would need workout clothes more.

Yoga pants, Yoga sports bras and etc.

Judge the way you live and go from there.

Even as simple things like are you always cold? then have more long sleeves and cardigans or thick coat jackets.

SImple mind strategies and having them on a pen and a sheet of paper for your master plan is the first step.

How to downsize your wardrobe

Downsizing your wardrobe to having 2 to 3 items of each category that you can repeat. 2 dresses that are in the same color, 1 for backups. Downsizing is far easier and find a container and try to fit clothes there and what is left cannot enter anymore.

Motivation to declutter clothes

What motivates you? My family is always entering my personal space at home and in my office and they get stressed out seeing my clutter and I agree with them.

Have that sense of urgency and get yourself to get things done and having a specific day of the week to declutter your clothes.

Does money drive you?

Selling clothes can get you so much money.

Get that money and make a savings account or buy a thing you want, treat yourself in a while. (aka me, Alyssa wants books as a treat for herself).

Best way to purge clothes

Purge your clothes with the thinking of the future wise.

We are consumers.

We will always buy clothes.

New clothes or shopping can be therapy.

Have a system of one thing in from your shopping day but one thing out before they enter your closet.

Are moving apartments? houses?

Would you be ok having to lift heavy stuff and finding later on you do not want that clothes anymore.

Giving ourselves a slack that one day our fashion style and fashion sense will change as we grow older.
