Our closets and wardrobes may be overflowing with clothes. Even when we’re attempting to clean up our surroundings, it’s tough to get rid of our discarded clothing and belongings.
In a world filled with distractions, it may be tough to focus on the things that are genuinely important in one’s own life. Physical clutter in your life may rapidly become overwhelming and detract from your ability to concentrate on what is most essential. True clutter-busting means putting out significant effort in one area.
You’re having difficulties with your clothing, right? If organizing your closets is too challenging for you, consider hiring a professional.
Bring out some cold apparel that you haven’t worn in a long time and get comfortable with it. Make a decision on whether or not you will wear the items again this season by asking yourself (or, better yet, writing it down). If the odds aren’t in your favor, it’s time to consider your options.
Is there anything more frustrating than having a pile of clothes you couldn’t wear but didn’t know what to do with them? It seems like you have arrived at the proper location. You will learn how to be harsh when organizing your closet without feeling guilty in this blog post.
When it comes to decluttering clothes, how can you be cruel? Developing the ability to declutter your closet is a skill, which is why we’ll walk you through all of the steps you’ll need to take in order to become ruthless with your things.
Clothing, clothing, and even more clothing! I realize how easy it is to have an excess of clothes that you seldom wear but yet have a large number of them. According to recent research, 65 percent of Americans haven’t worn almost two-thirds of their clothing in the preceding year. As a result, I decided to create a guide to assist you in being as ruthless as possible while clearing out your closet.
Ever gone to the store with the intention of purchasing a single thing and ended up leaving with three bags full of purchases? When you returned home, you almost felt awful about yourself for allowing it to happen. This may happen while people are looking for clothing, and it is especially common when people are rearranging their closets. Fashion and clothes have been more stylish throughout the years, as well. People are spending more money on their purchases today than they have in the past. This has resulted in an oversupply of clothing that is available for purchase without regard to race or gender. You can end up with things that you don’t need or don’t want to wear. To avoid overcrowding their closets with unnecessary items, people should learn to be harsh when decluttering their clothing.
Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed by the amount of clothing you own? You find yourself looking at them and wondering what they’re thinking, or vice versa. “Is it true that I don’t wear this any longer? It’s time for me to get rid of it!” But then you put it back in your closet because you believe someone else may want it or it could go out of style? I despise seeing garments that aren’t used and are instead utilized to store other items such as shoes, belts, and bags. How can you break through this emotional decluttering barrier?
Decluttering is more than simply tossing items away that you don’t use. It’s all about creating room for new goods and living with less when possible. We’ve all had those stuff that makes us think, “I may need this someday.” For example, during the summer of 2016, I purchased a t-shirt from Camp Glama-Gooey with a pile of futuristic rubbish and a swoosh design in yellow.
Everyone wants to get rid of the clothes heaps in their closet. However, getting rid of clothes isn’t always that simple. If you don’t know what to do or how to do it, the process of “decluttering” may be time-consuming and tiring.
Are you concerned that your whole outfit may wind up in the trash? Let me explain how I cope with it…
Everyone wants to be organized, declutter, and make a fresh start in the new year, but what happens when the month of January is almost through and you haven’t even started to handle some areas of your home? Can you identify? I believe I can.
If you’re anything like me, your drawers are bursting at the seams with clothing that don’t quite fit. Or maybe you’re out shopping and come across a lingerie store and say to yourself, “Damn lady, I wish I could afford this so I could select a set simpler.” (I’m not passing judgment.)
This post is all about how to be ruthless when decluttering clothes that you can apply to yourself today.
I do not ask people or force you to declutter your stuff.
Because I know when the mind is set, something wonderful will happen.
What to ask yourself when getting rid of clothes
Like I said having a great mindset and planning out your schedule is super duper important.
You will have a sense of priority for your day-to-day activities.
Ask yourself this first,
Are you ready?
Do you have time?
Will you finally throw out stuff that bothers you every day without guilt?
How do you emotionally remove clothes
I have personally thrown a lot of clothes already but I always think of the criteria when I do.
Does it have any tears?
Is it broken?
filthy or smelly?
I learned the hard way that clothes can bring germs or bacteria that could live in our sheets, garments, shirts, and t-shirts.
That bad smell on the clothes? It is GERMS! or BACTERIA!
Beware or be square!
How do you decide if you should get rid of clothes
I decide or come to a conclusion with the simple process I always do.
First, your clothes can be home clothes, then if I felt like it is kind of old and more tattered or damaged, I rummage through my DIY drawer supplies or craft supplies then I cut them into my favorites which are crop tops. Or by then I wear them to sleep if I can. Without any waste directly, we use them at home for wiping or rugs for cleaning.
How do you drastically declutter
I just throw my hands up in the air and I declare a truce with my inner self!
Let us be ruthless and really start to see some progress.
I know that it is hard I have dealt with so much already in my life.
Decluttering is one thing I can control and I am going to use that power of mine to better myself.
- The first thing I do is change my mindset because that is the very hard one and that is to pre-plan or starting to jot down to do lists.
- Second, what will come out of this? Are you doing this for nothing? or no reason at all, if you do not have any motivation whatsoever, you will not get things done.
- The third step is to start doing, you always going to be fighting procrastination, DONT. As I said have a truce and start decluttering per area. One at a time to not be overwhelmed and be paralyzed and freeze altogether.
How To Start Decluttering When Overwhelmed
Decluttering clothes
Decluttering clothes are never easy but the benefits are so much more important than anything else.
- Imagine clothes are being a big part of our house, especially our bedrooms.
- Clothes can either get dust and dirt from the air from pollution or antigens at home.

I know you can do it and after it is all done you will not ask yourself again how to declutter clothes anymore.
How do you declutter too many clothes
I always use a trash bag or a black bag and sort my clothes directly and fold them from their hangers with asking myself, If I can still wear them or is it brand new still?
- Are you a business minded person? Sell your stuff on the Facebook marketplace or depop online store or eBay.
- Ask anyone in your neighborhood.
- Donating to family members if they say they are looking for specific clothes to wear for a job interview or a gala event for special formal gatherings.
- Utilize the family group chat once in a while to say hi and hello too.
- Throwing clothes that are old or bitten by a rat and making them into a cleaning rag for table surfaces or lamps.
- Before I use to buy disposables for cleaning but it is more friendly for mother Earth and to nature that we do part of our share as such items goes to big landfills of trash.
Decluttering your wardrobe
The wardrobe can be separated into 4 ways. Create a capsule wardrobe for 4 seasons of the year summer, winter, fall, and spring.
I used this beautiful aesthetic basket woven all summer long.
To store my clothes for the summer and had my swimsuits inside and a floppy hat and stash it inside my closet.
Special occasions like Christmas and Halloween costumes can be in a small bin or wooden boxes.
I recommend this product as I used them all my life and never had any problems with it and it looks beautiful.
This plastic woven super home decor is so pretty and clean-looking.
I fall in love again!
Did you know clothing clutter is the #1 declutter problem in most homes?
The trouble with being a consumer is we buy things despite having too much stuff already at home.
You need to tell yourself what clothes to throw out because having the shopping sprees and accumulating clothes that are trendy and in the latest fashion will clog your closet.
Every single day does throw out one thing and be an article of ruthless clothing decluttering person.
Have that change and declutter moves making in order to succeed.
How to be ruthless
Okay be ruthless with decluttering, It is going to hurt in the beginning when seeing things being departed from you.
It will hurt more if you will become a hoarder and one day you cannot absolutely control yourself anymore.
Having lots of unnecessary stuff can affect family relationships and worst, your mental health too.
Think of how decluttering can make a huge difference for you and your family’s overall well-being.
Less cleaning time and more family movie time with husband and kids.
How decluttering changed my life
I used to have my relatives or aunts and uncles buy me stuff that is clothes because they know I love fashion, (they still do, but less now).
We love our family but getting presents is good and nice.
I like presents that are more of experiences whenever I do not have any new things physically I like at the moment.
Changing your perspective in a small way can be a nice thing one way or another.
I think a lot better now and I worry less now.
As funny as it may seem but I can finally see my bedroom floors and walls now unlike before.
How to decide what clothes to keep
I decided to keep clothes that fit me well and I look good in them.
I have to be honest and I admit it as a fashionista by heart but with a dash of a minimalist.
Knowing myself and my lifestyle are important.
Do I always go to the gym, then I would need workout clothes more.
Yoga pants, Yoga sports bras and etc.
Judge the way you live and go from there.
Even as simple things like are you always cold? then have more long sleeves and cardigans or thick coat jackets.
SImple mind strategies and having them on a pen and a sheet of paper for your master plan is the first step.
How to downsize your wardrobe
Downsizing your wardrobe to having 2 to 3 items of each category that you can repeat. 2 dresses that are in the same color, 1 for backups. Downsizing is far easier and find a container and try to fit clothes there and what is left cannot enter anymore.
Motivation to declutter clothes
What motivates you? My family is always entering my personal space at home and in my office and they get stressed out seeing my clutter and I agree with them.
Have that sense of urgency and get yourself to get things done and have a specific day of the week to declutter your clothes.
Does money drive you?
Selling clothes can get you so much money.
Get that money and make a savings account or buy a thing you want, treat yourself in a while. (aka me, Alyssa wants books as a treat for herself).
Best way to purge clothes
Purge your clothes with the thinking of the future wise.
We are consumers.
We will always buy clothes.
New clothes or shopping can be therapy.
Have a system of one thing in from your shopping day but one thing out before they enter your closet.
Are moving apartments? houses?
Would you be ok having to lift heavy stuff and finding later on you do not want that clothes anymore?
Giving ourselves a slack that one day our fashion style and fashion sense will change as we grow older.
Conclusion
Decluttering does not have to be a painful, time-consuming, or tough process to complete. If you want to simplify your life and make the most of your closet space, you should read this article on how to be brutal when it comes to decluttering your clothes. It includes various helpful ideas and ways for doing the process quickly and easily–all while remaining true to your own style.
You must be ruthless in the pursuit of your goals. The only way to get rid of your clothes is to do it this way.
In order to minimize the size of your closet, conventional decluttering approaches recommend that you be merciless with all your items. Although it seems to make sense on paper, we believe that it is not always necessary if you are judicious in what you choose to keep. Fortunately, this comprehensive guide will teach you how to be very selective when arranging your clothes.
As you may have seen, there is a lot of bad advice out there on how to organize your wardrobe. According to the housekeeper, folding your whole clothing and keeping it folded for a week is completely useless. It is much better to employ the same approach with shorter time spans and more realistic objectives rather than modifying it. Examine the items of clothes that are now clogging up your closet if you want to know why you don’t feel neat and pleased in them. What does the general public think of you? Do they depend only on them to obtain employment? Is it possible that they are out of style? Is it required to dispose of them in a fire? What happens to them after they’ve been tossed out? Will they be donated, but only if you’re ruthless?
One of the most effective things you can do to aid in your quest for greater self-awareness is to brutally streamline your wardrobe. It will make you realize how much you use, how much you despise, and how much you may really need some of the clothes in your wardrobe. If this is the case, being honest with yourself about getting rid of them will be much easier, allowing you to make more room for new wardrobe staples that you actually desire.
“Does this have the potential to bring me joy?” you should inquire. Then you’re on your way to being a ruthless declutterer if you replied no. The more often you ask yourself this question and make tough decisions, the more quickly you will be able to clean the clutter from your life.
Ruthless? Yes, without a doubt. There are many places in our lives where we could use a little more personal space, whether it be in our closets, at our offices, or any other place where we feel we’re running out of space. Getting rid of goods that you’ve spent money on and that you feel are appealing or fit well in your wardrobe may be tough. However, if you want to create a place for new items, we recommend the following steps:
You may quickly and effectively organize your clothes by following three basic steps.
Decluttering your clothing is best done as soon as possible after acquiring new items since you will be in the mindset of deciding what to keep and what to toss. Continue your excellent job! Items that don’t fit your current lifestyle or those you haven’t worn in three years should be thrown away or donated. When selecting what to let go of, encourage them to utilize their tough love to make their decisions. Remember that nothing has actual emotional value until it has a story behind it; thus, if you are unable to tell one, let it go.
If you have a big event coming up, such as a wedding or graduation, you may think it’s the perfect moment to clear out your closet and finally get rid of all of that old clothing! Before you toss your old clothes into the charity donation box, have a look at these five tips for getting the most out of your old clothes.
Decluttering does not have to be a tough task to do. As previously said, start with the most apparent thing. Once you’ve done that, separate your garments into smaller, more manageable pieces and go through them one at a time. Examine everything thoroughly and determine whether or not you have worn it in the recent year. If it hasn’t been worn in a while, donate it. You shouldn’t overthink these decisions; instead, focus on gradually removing items of clothes from your closet until you are content with what is left.
The only thing that stands in the way of fantastic new apparel is a totally out-of-date relic from a time when you had to invest in an entire fashion trend. Today, you may get clothing for any occasion and in any style that best matches your preferences. Get rid of the notion of what is “in” and start shopping for clothing that is actually comfortable.
